Basel Christmas Market at Barfüsserplatz

In December, Basel becomes a Christmas city, and the Basel Christmas Market truly contributes to the fairy-tale Christmas atmosphere in this city. The Basel Christmas Market is known as one of the most traditional Christmas markets in Switzerland. During one month, this market is a highlight during the Christmas season in Basel. The market is set up on Barfüsserplatz (learn more about the origin of the name Barfüsserplatz here) and on Münsterplatz and there is a lot to find at the market: Christmas decorations, jewelry, children's toys, seasonal specialities, arts and crafts, and, not to forget, hot wine punch, which is served in a very special cup. The program for children that is provided at this market includes craft workshops and candle making, which is a lovely thing to do and experience. Don't miss it!
