DIY Notepad Holder: A step-by-step tutorial

Here's a little step-by-step tutorial on how to make a notepad holder. I needed one for the kitchen in order to write grocery shopping lists. I wanted one made of wood, but didn't find what I was looking for, so I decided to make one myself. The one I made is easy and simple, and it looks nice, too. Here are the instructions:

1.  What you need: a small, wooden tray / a notepad / wire / a wire cutter / two nails / a hammer / spray paint (in the color of your choice) / a piece of newspaper

2. Cover the place you are going to work on with newspaper.

3. Put the tray on a piece of styrofoam (or something like that), so you can easily spray the bottom part of the tray.

4. Spray the tray (yeah, that rhymes). Let it dry for two hours.

5. Take the notepad to measure out the length of the wire. Keep in mind that you will have to wrap the wire around the two nails on both sides of inner part of the tray.

6. Knock in both nails on the inner side of the tray and wrap around the wire. Cut off any excess wire.

7. Spray the tray for a second time (and even a third, if you like - just let it dry in between) and make sure that the wire is covered with spray paint too.

8. Let the tray dry for 24 hours. Then, bring on the notepad as shown in the picture.

9. Hang up the notepad holder and enjoy your masterpiece!
