DIY Candle Holder: A step-by-step tutorial

Have you also asked yourself what to do with empty IKEA glass candle holders once you have finished burning the scented candle inside? I have found a way to reuse these candle holders while making them unique again. In the following, you will find a step-by-step tutorial on how to make your own candle holders:

1. What you need: empty glass candle holders / paper napkins / scissors / newspaper / special glue for napkin technique (I have this one, but I am sure you can get this or similar ones at any art supply store) / brush for napkin technique (which you can also get at the art supply store)

2. Take a napkin and remove the upmost layer of  the napkin. This is the one layer you are going to work with.

3. Position the napkin on the candle holder to measure out the piece of napkin you are going to need to cover the hole candle holder. Cut off any excess napkin.

4. Cover the place you are going to work on with newspaper. With the brush, apply glue to the glass and place the napkin on top of it.

5. Gradually, apply glue to the entire surface in order to glue on the napkin.

6. Apply glue on top of the napkin; be very careful here since you are working with a very thin layer of napkin!

7. Hold the glass placing one hand inside of the glass in order not to touch the freshly glued part, as pictured.

8. Using the brush, carefully remove any excess napkin on the rim of the glass.

9. Place the candle holder on an object of your choice and let it dry (be careful not to place it directly on the newspaper or the floor, since it will stick to it).

Aaaaand you're done! Enjoy and let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for stopping by and have a nice Sunday.
